This memorial website was created in the memory of our loved one, CODY LANE JOHNSON who was born in West Palm Beach, Florida on February 12, 2002 and passed away on January 04, 2005 at the great age of 2 years and almost 11 mos old due to an accidental drowning in a family pool. He fell in on Jan. 01, when I, his mom, found him just mins. later and tried to revive him. He fought hard to hold on but his body was too weak so on the Jan. 04 he took God's hand and became an "ANGEL" He was my baby boy for 3 short but memory-filled years. His older brother will always love and miss him ,and he will tell their lil brother all about him each day. He may be gone physically from our lives but we will remember him forever in our hearts and our thoughts. Go rest in peace lil one!! I do have a story that I wanted to share. Cody was a big fan of bull riding. "8 Seconds" was Cody's favorite movie. He watched it almost every day. He was finally big enough to ride the "mechanical bull" this past November at Old Town in Kissimmee. He was so excited, but it scared him just a little. His eyes sparkled with excitement when I told him "Mommy bought tickets to a bullridin' event in town." He couldn't wait. He would ask me every day, "Cody gonna see bull riders today, Mommy?" The event was scheduled for Jan. 7 and 8 but he passed on the 4th, as you know. I didn't want to go but my older son said, "Mommy, we have to go. Cody wouldn't want us to miss it! It was gonna be his first one!" I figured this would help him with the trauma he had also gone through losing his lil' brother. I was still feeling guilty for being out and about in this short time after his passing. On Jan. 8 as we watched the bull riders, one by one in awe, we were amazed at the power of those bulls and how those lil' bullriders handled them. To my amazement, one bull rider shined above all the rest — Tater Porter. When his name was announced before his ride, he had dedicated his ride to "lil 2-year-old Cody Lane Johnson that had passed earlier that week." As he rode, tears of joys streamed down my face because it made me so proud. My older son was so proud he was walking around telling everyone about it. We got to go back and thank Mr. Porter and get his autograph. He was very pleasant and he said, "It was my honor to ride for him. I'm really sorry to hear about your loss." All the thanks in the world go to Tater Porter from the deepest part of our hearts. I would just like to let others know that there are people out there who do really care and that one bad moment in time can be a most memorable one. Of course he has alot of interest at his age..yughio cards, planes, cars, tonka dump trucks, but most of all he wasn't afraid of much ....except the roll of thunder or a crack of lightning, or the sound of the fireworks each year. He brought so much joy into everyone's life and he always had a smile on his face even when he wasn't feeling well... but don't get me wrong he could give you meanest lil look you ever saw.. but was darn cute doin' it to. I was trying to punish him one day and as I was hollerin' he just stood there ...looking at me with that look on his face and I started laughin'. I had forgotten what he had done but it is things like those that made each day special. Of course there were times he was as quiet as a mouse and you just knew he was doin' something he wasn't supposed to . He would hide under the table or beds as if he was invisable to anyone around. Soon after he passed I started to find his "lil treasures"... cars , his brother's yughio cards, monoply money, and candy wrappers . But the sweetest thing I found was mommy's nighty he had carried around with him for security. Of course like most boys he was a rough tumbler most people would almost have a heart attack tryin' to keep him from gettin' hurt. Though most of us would have cried our eyes out if we bumped our head, stumped our toes, or even fell outta bed. Not Cody Lane , he would just dust himself off and do it again and again!! There are a million things I could tell you about him but the most important thing is that he loved everyone no matter what they did or didn't do he just loved them whole heartedly. This last christmas is one I will always remember ... he decided to play Santa ...for everyone... he sat under the tree sayin' " ho ho ho merry christmas" as he opened all the gifts one by one, all by himself. It was 3 days before christmas so I had to rewrap most of 'em but he was just so cute I couldn't spoil his fun so I just watched. He was always on the go as his grandma says " if you let go of one hand you had better have the other, he was quick" I sit and rememeber days I spent with him and the crazy things he would say..... he always spoke in 3rd person it was kinda of unusual but special. For instance Cody ride , or Cody cofee maker, and Cody findin' nemo! Findin' Nemo was one movie he watched about a zillion times over!!
